With the objective of inculcating in the students the principles of not only education but also knowledge, not only education but also culture, not only education but also ideals, this examination was conducted for the first time in 1994 in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. After this, this examination program kept on developing and it kept on expanding in many states of the country and this process is continuing even today.
1. School level expansion-
This examination of Bharatiya Sanskriti Gyan Pariksha started from one school and today it has made its place in one lakh schools.
2. State level expansion-
It started from Madhya Pradesh state and till now it has expanded in many states of the country. These include- Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, Arunachal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Andaman Nicobar Islands, it has not only expanded but also across the country's border in Nepal. Year after year, the process of conducting the exam is going on in many remote provinces as well.
3. Language level expansion-
This exam was first conducted in Hindi language. Now it is conducted in many languages of the country as well. Those languages are- Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, Assamese.
4. Class and text book level expansion-
This exam was initially conducted from secondary level (classes 5 to 8). After four to five years of its beginning, it started being conducted for students of high/higher secondary schools as well. After this, there was a demand for students of colleges as well. Due to which, this exam is being conducted in colleges as well for the last 16 years. Thus, at present, this exam is conducted for students from class 5 to college. The text book is different for each class.
5. Participating students level detail-
Indian culture knowledge examination started in Bhopal in 1994, that year 2000 students from 20 schools participated. Today in the year 2024, the number of students participating in this examination has been more than 42,00,000 (forty-two lakhs).
6. Coordinator teacher level detail-
The examination was started by four teachers. Today the number of coordinator teachers in this examination is more than 2,00,000 (two lakhs).
7. Coordinator/coordinator volunteer worker level detail-
This examination was initially conducted by 2-3 volunteer workers. Today the number of participating students and examination centers / schools has increased manifold. For which more volunteer workers are required for conducting it. At present more than 2,00,000 (two lakhs) volunteer workers are involved in conducting this examination.
8. Organizational expansion-
For conducting the examination, one district committee has been formed in each of the 350 districts and 10 state committees have been formed across the country. These committees carry out most of the tasks related to this examination or make arrangements.
9. Religious expansion-
Today, students of various religions/sects participate in this examination. These include- Sanatani, Christian and Muslim.
