The text books for Indian Culture Knowledge Examination are different for each class. Question papers are prepared for the examination on the basis of these text books. Each question paper has 100 questions (multiple choice/four choice) carrying one mark each.
The question papers of each class also have five tiebreaker questions on the last page. Filling of these is also mandatory. The answers to these questions are checked only when the marks obtained by more than one student in the merit list are the same. After the evaluation of these tiebreaker questions, the final merit list is prepared.
This examination is conducted every year in the entire country in three months (September, October and November). The states which find any date among these three more convenient as per the state conditions, propose to conduct the examination on that date. The primary responsibility of determining these dates lies with the state and district coordinators of that state.
Every year a national seminar is organized at Shantikunj, Haridwar, the centre of BSGP, in which coordinators of each district and state are invited. In this seminar, the examination outline is prepared and dates are decided. Question papers are prepared according to the dates decided. Question papers for each date are different. These are prepared with A, B, C codes.
